The oratory of San Mercurio was built in 1557 by the….. in San Mercurio, founded in 1572 to help the nurses near the hospital at the Sclafani Palace.

This was a place of great interest for the sculptor Giacomo Serpotta, who worked there from 1678.

The walls are filled with putti that appear to be moving and climbing around the windows and on the perfect baroque picture frames. In the other corners the decoration is enriched by masks, anthropomorphic figures and various other ornamental features.

In the oratory you can also admire the splendid majolica floor, which is one of the few left in Palermo
